Winston Salem Area Chiropractic Care

At Pinnacle Chiropractic + Wellness, Dr. D’Juan Richardson uses a variety of chiropractic methods to help improve his patients’ nervous systems and solve the underlying issues causing them neck, back and extremity pain and discomfort.

Chiropractic care is not a one-size-fits-all solution and what may work for one patient, may not work for another. It’s not just a crack of the back or neck when it comes to chiropractic care — there are many treatment options that can be used and meet the patient exactly where their needs are, ensuring their success while in treatment and maintenance.

Chiropractic Care for Everyone

Chiropractic care can be tremendously beneficial for everyone and Dr. D’Juan has patients from 2 weeks old to 97. He will correct the misalignments in your spine, which can cause muscle and nerve pain, headaches, TMJ, and even chronic sports injuries like sprains.

In our little ones, chiropractic can help reduce ear infections, asthma, stomach and digestion issues, and even colic. Children’s spines need to be kept healthy once they’re starting to crawl or learning to walk, especially because they are susceptible to falls that can injure the spine. Dr. D’Juan wants to ensure the spine is in its correct alignment as your child’s spine grows and changes.

Chiropractic Techniques and Procedures for Winston Salem Patients

The primary techniques and procedures Dr. D’Juan uses include:

A treatment that involves Dr. D’Juan manually placing pressure through the affected vertebral segment in order to restore movement and encourage mobility.

A treatment done with a hand-held, spring-loaded mechanical instrument called the Activator adjusting instrument. It allows Dr. D’Juan to give patients a quick, low-force impulse at specific points.

This therapy is done to help stretch muscles and open up disk and joint spaces, reducing and reversing spinal disc compression. It gently stretches the patient’s spine through use of a special table.

This technique is done when Dr. D’Juan “pins” a muscle and the force of the stretch is focused on the region of the muscle that is between the pinned point and the attachment that is moved.

Used by Dr. D’Juan when he has identified disparities in the length of the legs in the patient. With your head supported laying on the specialized table, he will apply a high speed thrust, using minimal force.

The table then drops slightly to lower the section of the spinal region that he’s adjusting. This helps carry the joint through its normal range of motion, allowing full correction of the segment.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation is a form of electro therapy that uses a special type of electrical current to stimulate specific muscles. With strategically placed electrode pads, low levels of electrical current excite the targeted muscles producing rhythmic contractions. There are many types of electrical stimulation, which promote pain relief, reduce inflammation, avoid muscle atrophy and lessen muscle spasm. The patient may feel light tingling, or nothing at all.

This is a deep tissue technique that uses a tool to help relax tense muscles, break up scar tissue within the muscles, and helps promote healing.

This is a soft-tissue treatment that can help release tense, painful knots in your muscles and connective tissues.

Dr. D’Juan may also use passive stretches for the neck, shoulder and upper back area to alleviate any problems there.
